Q.01: Where do you live now? How is your town like?
I live in Glasgow. Glasgow used to be a wealthy city famous for shipbuilding and steel manufacturing. Those industries have long departed and the city is now quite poor. In the last 20 years it has attempted with some success to re-invent itself as a cultural centre. There is a good music and art scene. Glasgow has an aspect of Victorian faded grandeur. It’s not as beautiful as Edinburgh, but it’s more fun.
Q.02: When you were a kid, what did you want to be?
An astronaut.
Q.03: Please tell us how you started creating art.
It’s something I have always done for as long as I can remember. It took me a long time to realize that I could have a career as an artist, but guess art is something that I’ve always that’s always come naturally.
Q.04: What is your process of work?
I get up in the morning. I draw pictures all day. I go to bed.
Q.05: Almost all your works are done by hand drawing. Do you occasionally use computer for your work? If so, in
which part of creation do you use?
I only ever draw on paper. I only use the computer to record things.
Q.06: What do you always keep in mind when you make art?
I always tell myself that the only thing I need to do is to fill the page. This seems to make things easier. It takes the pressure off.
Q.07: Who are your influences?
Everything
Q.08: Do you like Edward Gorey's illustration work?
Yes, but I haven’t seen it all.
Q.09: What would be possible to describe through T-shirts design?
The t-shirt is a unique context for images and statements. As a wearer of a t-shirt with a particular design one is making a statement. As an artist it is interesting to make statements on t-shirts and have people adopt them.
Q.10: What does it mean to you to design T-shirts?
I like doing it and I guess it’s flattering that people like my designs enough to want to wear them. That’s really all I can say about it.
Q.11: When you are not making artwork, how do you usually spend your time?
Sleeping.
Q.12: Is there something besides your work you consider yourself to be an authority on?
Football.
Q.13: If you were a member of rock band, which instrument would you play? And what song would you want to
play?
I can play the guitar a little, but if I had my time again I would play the drums. The drums are more cathartic.
Would be in Motorhead. That guy had two bass drums. That’s cool.
Q.14: When you travel, what do you always bring with you?
Earplugs.
Q.15: What kind of dream did you have last night?
I dreamed I had sex with a woman who was half cat. It was very strange. I woke up with an itch.
